1. A child has to be 5 within the School year (Sept 1st - August 31st) before admission into the reception Class is permitted.

2. Parents considering sending their child to Trelales School may telephone to arrange an appointment to discuss admission arrangements, to visit their child's new class and teacher and to view the school in general.

3. The Headteacher also visits two playgroups in the area, one at Laleston and the other on Park Street to communicate with the Playgroup leaders, assessing possible numbers for the next year.

4. Once a list of prospective entrants has been finalised then the Headteacher invites the Parents and children to an Open Afternoon at the School towards the end of June/July.

At this meeting Parents will meet the Headteacher and Reception Class Teacher and acquaint themselves with the School.

Arrangements for admission are outlined and discussed. Any queries parents may have regarding admission arrangements will be answered.

Children Leaving Trelales...

If a child has to move to another school, for whatever reason, then it is important that you inform the Headteacher in order that relevant records and information can be forwarded to the next school...

Transition Arrangements...

On completion of their education at Trelales Primary School at the age of 11+ the children are normally transferred to Bryntirion Comprehensive School with whom relationships are extremely close.

Regular meetings occur between senior members of Staff at the Comprehensive School and the Headteacher and teacher of Class 6.

During the Summer Term preceding transfer to the Comprehensive a series of meetings and visits by staff and children are arranged.

On one such visit our children second a whole day at the Comprehensive following a typical timetable and gaining a valuable insight into life at the School. Various other activities are encouraged to assist with a smooth transition from one place of education to another. These include Drama presentations, musical presentations and Science Workshops.
